MILITARY VIDEO PRESENATION
To recognize our veterans and/or family members who are veterans, we are updating our video presentation honoring those who have worn Army, Navy, Marine, Airforce, or Coast Guard uniforms in defense of our nation. Please submit a digital photo of yourself, father, mother, uncle, aunt, brother, sister, and others to firstname.lastname@example.org. Photos in uniform are preferred. Veterans, active duty Military, and Family Members Workshop
The Veterans and Military Ministry of FBCH is sponsoring a Disabled American Veteran (DAV) Workshop in partnership with the DAV Chapter 6 on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Workshop will take place on the 3rd floor of the church. This year’s theme is: “How to Navigate the Veterans Administration Benefits System.” Workshop topics include: Types of VA Benefits, Documents Required for Claims, Getting a Good Rating, Being Rated as Individual Who is Unemployable, New Claims Appeal Process, The Intent to File Process, and How to and How Not to File a VA Benefits Claim.
There are changes to the claims appeal process, and we encourage and invite everyone to join us. The Workshop will help attendees gain a deeper understanding of how to successfully process claims for veteran and family member benefits. Subject matter experts will be available to answer questions, complete intent to file applications, and to schedule one-on-one follow -up appointments. Complimentary refreshments will be provided. VETERAN’S DAY RECEPTION
Inviting all Veterans, Reservists, Active Duty Service members and their families to attend our Annual Veteran’s Day Reception on Sunday, November 11, 2019 immediately following the Morning Worship Service. Families must be registered to attend. Tickets will be available following the Sunday Morning Worship Service on October 13th and 20th. SEPTEMBER SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSONS
Unit II: Responses to God’s Faithfulness.
October 6th: Be Obedient – Deuteronomy 4:1-8, 12-13;
October 13th: Wait! Help is on the Way – 1 Kings 17:8-16;
October 20th: Healing in an Unusual Manner – Luke 7:1-10;
October 27th: Showing Love when You Are Forgiven – Luke 7:37-48.
There will be Church-Wide Prayer from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Rooms 303/304/305 on Wednesdays. This time of prayer is in addition to the current prayer times that are taking place. Church-Wide Prayer will continue each Wednesday until further notice.
SOUP KITCHEN/CLOTHING TREE
The FBCH Soup Kitchen now takes place throughout the year. As a result, the J.C. Patterson Missionary Society is seeking donations of season appropriate, men’s and women’s clothing. All donations may be dropped off on Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m. in the Activity Center. Donations may also be dropped off in the Administrative Office during normal business hours.
ABCOTS ORATORICAL CONTEST
The Annual ABCOTS Area II Oratorical Contest will take place on Saturday, October 12th at Zion Baptist Church in Hampton. Reverend Joshua King, Sr. will serve as the host pastor. All middle school, high school, and college students are encouraged to participate. This year’s theme is “A Top Concern for Reclaiming My Generation.” For additional information or to obtain the oratorical contest packet, please contact Reverend Dr. Betty H. SUNDAY SCHOOL REUNION
During the Open Sunday School program on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the Patterson-Gaines Memorial Chapel the Sunday School will host a reunion for all who have attend Sunday School during the pastorates of Reverend Patterson to the present. Former Sunday School teachers and students are invited to participate. We will have a fellowship at 8:00 a.m. on the second floor prior to the 9:00 a.m. Open Sunday School.
