EMPOWERED SENIORS EXCURSION

The Empowered Seniors Ministry is planning a local outing to the Hampton History Museum followed by lunch at the Grey Goose Restaurant located in beautiful downtown Hampton. The excursion will take place on Tuesday, August 27, 2019. Space for this trip is limited to the first 20, registrants and transportation will be provided. Registration will take place on Sundays, July 28th, August 4th, and August 11th and or until all seats are filled.

 

 

WEDDING COMMITTEE

We are currently recruiting volunteers to serve on the Wedding Committee.  Names should be submitted to jking@thefbch.org

 

 

AUGUST SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSONS

Unit III: Covenant: A Personal Perspective.

August 4th: A Covenant Between Friends – 1 Samuel 18:1-5; 19:1-7;

August 11th: A Mother-Daughter Covenant – Ruth 1:6-11, 14-18;

August 18th: A Covenant to Marry – Ruth 3:1-6, 8-12, 16-18;

August 25th: Marriage: A Covenant of Mutual Love – Ephesians 5:21-33.

 

 

CHURCH-WIDE PRAYER

There will be Church-Wide Prayer from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Rooms 303/304/305 on Wednesdays. This time of prayer is in addition to the current prayer times that are taking place. Church-Wide Prayer will continue each Wednesday until further notice. 

 

 

SOUP KITCHEN/CLOTHING TREE

The FBCH Soup Kitchen now takes place throughout the year. As a result, the J.C. Patterson Missionary Society is seeking donations of season appropriate, men’s and women’s clothing. All donations may be dropped off on Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m. in the Activity Center. Donations may also be dropped off in the Administrative Office during normal business hours.

 

 

OCEAN BREEZE TRIP

The Recreation Ministry is sponsoring a trip to Ocean Breeze Waterpark located at 849 General Booth Blvd. in Virginia Beach on Saturday, August 17, 2019. The van will depart the church at 9:30 a.m. and return and 7:00 p.m. The cost of the trip is $25, and this amount covers park admission and transportation. Youth under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. While youth between the ages of 14 to 17 must have a signed permission slip to participate. Participation is limited to the first 20 paid registrants. Registration will take place in the Activity Center following the Morning Worship Service on Sunday, July 7th and Sunday, July 14th. JUNIOR COMMONWEALTH’S ATTORNEY SUMMER PROGRAM

The Junior Commonwealth’s Attorney Summer Program will be held from Monday, August 5th through Friday, August 9th. This program is a crime prevention and educational program designed to provide rising 8th and 9th grade Hampton City School students with an overview of the criminal justice system by allowing them to observe its actual operation. This free program will provide students with the opportunity to engage and interact with criminal justice professionals – including law enforcement officers and attorneys. Students will participate in an exciting and engaging curriculum that includes courtroom observations and field trips to the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Hampton Police Department, Office of the Attorney General, Virginia State Capitol, Hampton Courts, Hampton 911 Center,. Hampton City Jail and other local agencies. Lunch will be provided for participants. Registration is required. However, space is limited. The application deadline is Friday, June 7, 2019.
